Ingredient Notes
- Rice Krispie Treats
- To save time, you can buy a box of pre-made Rice Krispie treats for this recipe. They might be softer than homemade Rice Krispie treats you make at home, but putting them in the fridge before you dip them in chocolate will ensure they don’t fall apart. I’ve tried it successfully.
- You can also try using gluten free Krispie Rice from a brand you trust to make these pink treats gluten free.
- Candy Melts
- Although similar to regular chocolate and chocolate chips, candy melts are designed specifically for dipping and dripping. Candy melts are made of sugar and oils, not cocoa butter like you’d find in regular chocolate.
- If you find your candy melts are too thick, add a small spoonful of vegetable shortening or vegetable oil at a time to thin it out. Never use water or milk; it will cause the mixture to seize and harden.
- Marshmallows
- Mini marshmallows will melt faster than larger marshmallows, but either one will work fine for this recipe.
How To Make Pink Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispie Treats
Make Rice Krispies
Start by melting 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pot over low heat. Add one bag of marshmallows (ten ounces or 283 grams) and stir until they are completely melted. Once melted, remove the mixture from the heat. For a fun twist, if you want your tasty treats to be pink inside, use a drop of red food coloring at this step.
Next, add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until all the cereal is well coated. If your large saucepan isn’t big enough to hold all 6 cups, transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl.
Prepare a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan by greasing it with butter or cooking spray. Press the Rice Krispie mixture into the pan using a buttered spatula or a sheet of wax paper to flatten the top. Alternatively, you can line the bottom of the pan with wax paper and grease only the sides for better results.
Allow the treats to cool, and then cut them into 2-inch squares. If you encounter difficulty cutting the squares, you can unmold the pan and use a buttered knife for easier cutting.
Coat Rice Krispie Treats In Candy Melts
As a base layer, you can either use pink candy melts and drizzle white on top, or white candy melts and drizzle pink on top. You can see my photos of each to see which you like best.
Melt white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Then dip your popsicle stick into the melted candy and insert it into your Rice Krispie treat. Allow it to cool and harden in the fridge for 20 minutes. Adding melted candy to the stick ensures it stays securely attached during the dipping process.

You could use popsicle sticks, stiff paper straws, or reusable plastic straws as a base to help hold onto the treat.
Once the sticks are set, prepare a bowl of melted white candy melts. Use a spoon to coat your Rice Krispie treats with white candy melts. After coating, gently tap off any excess chocolate and place the treats on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper. Repeat this process for all your treats.

Decorate Pink Rice Krispie Treats
After coating your cereal treats with white chocolate, it’s time to add some decorations.
When the white chocolate candy melts are still wet, sprinkles will stick to them. Make sure to work quickly before the candy hardens, as the sprinkles won’t stick well once it sets. If it hardens, you can drizzle some more candy melts on top to help the sprinkles adhere.

Melt pink candy melts and then put a piping bag inside a cup to help it stand up as you pour the melted candy inside. Snip off a very small opening at the tip of your piping bag to drizzle pink candy melts across your white-dipped treats. Then add pink sprinkles.
Store your finished treats at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week until you’re ready to serve them.

Rice Krispie Treat Troubleshooting
My Rice Krispie treat keeps falling off into the melted chocolate
Put your sticks inside each treat with a bit of melted chocolate, then put them all in the fridge for 20 minutes to harden.
If you’re having a hard time coating your Rice Krispie treats in white chocolate, they may be melting from the heat.
Can I use something other than Rice Krispie treats?
If you have a cakesicle mold and would prefer to use cake inside these treats instead of Rice Krispie squares, it should work the same way.
Can I use chocolate chips instead of candy melts?
I don’t recommend using white chocolate chips to dip your treats in; they are more resistant to melting and burn faster in the microwave or double boiler. You can try using a spoon of vegetable oil to thin the chocolate chips if it’s all you’ve got to work with.
Instead of dipping the full treat in chocolate, you might want to spread chocolate on top of your pan of Rice Krispies before cutting it if you’re using chocolate chips.
Can I use food coloring instead of colored candy melts?
If you’re using pink food coloring with candy melts or other melted chocolate it needs to be gel food coloring or powder. Regular liquid food coloring has a lot of water in it which will cause your chocolate to seize and harden.
You’re better off using colored candy melts. To get the right pink color, you can use a combination of red and white, or white and pink candy melts.
Should I use treat sticks, skewers or popsicle sticks to make Rice Krispie treats on a stick?
Use treat sticks or popsicle sticks to make Rice Krispie treats on a stick or ‘Rice Krispie pops’. Skewers are too thin, harder to hold, and slide off more easily.
